Abstract

In modern oncology practice, biomarkers are increasingly used to select patients for individualized treatment based on tumor genetic characteristics for many types of cancer. However, for head and neck tumors, there are no personalized treatments available outside the context of clinical trials. Several studies indicate that head and neck tumors have specific properties that influence their response to chemotherapy. However, there is very little information on the results of the search for markers of response to radiation or chemoradiation therapy of patients with tumors of the head and neck.

This review presents a number of biomarkers predicting response to radiation / chemoradiation therapy for head and neck tumors.
