Brachytherapy has the following advantages: high precision – the ability of the local summarization of high single doses in a limited volume of tissue; good tolerability; a short time of treatment. At this time, brachytherapy is the method of choice used as palliative therapy and as a component of radical treatment.</p><p><bold>Objective:</bold> The purpose of this article is a literature review about the latest achievements of interstitial brachytherapy in malignant tumors of the oral cavity and oropharynx.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Введение.</bold> Одним из методов лучевой терапии злокачественных опухолей полости рта и орофарингеальной области на сегодняшний день является внутритканевая лучевая терапия – брахитерапия, позволяющая создавать оптимальные дозы облучения в очаге опухоли, необходимые для ее разрушения, без тяжелых лучевых реакций в окружающих неизмененных тканях. Брахитерапия имеет следующие преимущества: высокая прецизионность – возможность локального подведения высоких разовых доз в ограниченном объеме ткани, хорошая переносимость, короткий период лечения.
