David R. Naskhletashvili

Chemotherapist, neurological oncologist, and oncologist of the highest category. He has presented multiple reports at various neurosurgical and oncological conferences in Russia and abroad.  

He is a principal researcher in the group for the development of international treatment protocols for metastatic brain lesions.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Development of novel effective chemotherapeutic regimens and methods of chemoradiotherapy for primary and metastatic brain tumors.

EDUCATION

1996: graduated from I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (Faculty of General Medicine).

1996–1998: clinical resident (oncology) in N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, Russian Academy of Medical Science.

1998–2001: PhD student (oncology) in N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, Russian Academy of Medical Science.  

2002: defended his thesis entitled ‘Currently available treatment options for patients with brain metastases from breast cancer and small cell lung cancer.’

2010: approval of the topic of his doctoral thesis (Current chemotherapy in comprehensive treatment of patients with brain metastases).

Dr. Naskhletashvili attended lectures in the European School of Oncology.

CAREER

2001–2007: oncologist in the Department of Chemotherapy, Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

2007–2009: research fellow in the Department of Oncological Neurosurgery, Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. 

Since 2010: senior research fellow in the Department of Oncological Neurosurgery, Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. 

PUBLICATIONS

Dr. Naskhletashvili has coauthored 152 research articles published in both Russian and foreign journals.

MEMBERSHIP IN PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

Member of the European Association of Neuro-Oncology, European Society for Medical Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Naskhletashvili leads a group of experts of the Russian Society of Clinical Oncology, engaged in the development of practical guidelines for chemotherapy of metastatic brain lesions. He is also a member of the expert group working on the development of practical guidelines regulating chemotherapy of primary tumors of the central nervous system.

He participated in the work of the Moscow Cancer Society as an executive secretary.

In 2008, Dr. Naskhletashvili was awarded with the prize of N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center for his work "Current options and prospects of chemotherapy and chemoradiotherapy of brain metastases from solid tumors".
